The Challenge

An international security project in Angola required an AI-powered facial recognition and investigation layer that could operate together with the project’s selected video management and camera infrastructure.

The end-user site, referred to in the project documents as Ex-Ministerio Angola, required facial recognition capabilities for live camera environments, photo-based and video-based investigation, and search across previously detected faces.

Because the project was built around Motorola Solutions’ Pelco ecosystem, including Pelco cameras and Pelco VideoXpert, the facial recognition solution needed to integrate with VideoXpert and support security workflows without creating an isolated standalone system.

For the Ex-Ministerio Angola project, the customer environment included Pelco cameras and the Pelco VideoXpert video management system, so we needed a facial recognition solution that could complement the Pelco ecosystem and support practical security investigation workflows. Nevalabs’ Corvo Identify was recommended for this requirement thanks to its facial recognition capabilities, photo and video-based investigation workflows, search across previously detected faces and VideoXpert integration support. The project showed how Corvo Identify can add an AI-powered investigation layer to Pelco-based security deployments.

The project also required a partner-led international delivery model involving technology recommendation, distribution, regional coordination, local installation and remote technical support across multiple countries.

The Solution

Nevalabs provided Corvo Identify Pro as the AI-powered facial recognition and security investigation software layer for the Ex-Ministerio Angola project.

The opportunity was recommended to Nevalabs through the Motorola Solutions / Pelco team, with the Spain and Portugal Pelco teams supporting Nevalabs’ positioning for the project. The commercial transaction was processed through Wesco Anixter UK, while project coordination was carried out with the Wesco Anixter Portugal team due to the Angola project context. The local reseller and installer Pemel Instalações handled the Angola-side deployment.

Corvo Identify was delivered for 20 cameras with a 10,000-enrollment facial database license. The solution supported facial recognition from photos and videos, as well as suspect search from faces detected by the 20 cameras over the most recent 90 days. The offer also specified that Corvo Identify could be used integrated with Pelco VideoXpert.

The deployment used Pelco cameras, the Pelco VideoXpert video management system and Supermicro servers with NVIDIA T4 GPUs and Intel CPUs. Nevalabs provided the Corvo Identify software layer, VideoXpert integration support, remote installation, software update and support services, and remote user training.

For Nevalabs, the project represented an export reference delivered through a major international security distribution and video management ecosystem, combining global channel collaboration with local deployment capabilities in Angola.
